The Farm: From Idea to the "World's Most Scenic Tulip U-Pick Experience" in 2 Years

Tulip Valley Farms was created to enhance the experience of visitors who came to witness the vibrant blooms. From u-picking to parking, everything was developed with YOU in mind.

Planted in 2022, Tulip Valley Farms started as an idea to offer a guest-focused tulip experience in the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. In just 2 seasons, it became the West Coast’s largest tulip u-pick farm, the only u-pick tulip field in Skagit Valley, and “World’s Most Scenic Tulip U-Pick Experience.”

At Tulip Valley Farms, “color is our crop,” so we create opportunities for guests to have meaningful and inspirational experiences. The farm has already earned the reputation as the most family-friendly and immersive tulip experience. Guests love the grass paths between the rows of tulips, farm animals, u-pick, and free daily “Meet Farmer Andrew” talks.

Why the Need for Another Tulip Farm?

With guests in mind, Tulip Valley Farms addressed the tensions that made many people resist coming to Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. Some of these issues included:

  • More Tulips and Options: 40 years ago there were 4,000 acres of tulips and many growers. Now there are about 400 acres and 2 growers. Increased visitors and fewers opportunities to see tulips creates a negative guest experience. Tulip Valley Farms adds millions of tulips and a fresh tulip experience.
  • Traffic: no one wants to spend hours on the freeway and then hours on a country road waiting to get into a small parking lot. Tulip Valley Farms has 5 acres of parking to get more people off the road faster.
  • Stress: the existing fields provided beautiful photos for families, but preventing children from wandering between the rows (and getting yelled at) or touching flowers (and getting yelled at) is not fun for anyone. Tulip Valley Farms provides an opportunity for people who want a more hands-on experience without risking the crop (tulip bulbs)
  • Family Friendly: parents love beautiful photos, but then what? We know that when kids have the opportunity to run, touch, and learn, they get much more out of their experiences. We want families having picnics on the grass next to the tulips, observing the farm animals, and getting creative with their hand-picked bouquets.
