Our Sisters

Karen Fryberg, Marie Zackuse, and Judy Gobin, members of the Tulalip Tribes, stand in rows of "Our Sisters" tulips at Tulip Valley Farms.
Violence is one of the top leading causes of death of Indigenous women and persons; in the Seattle area, it is the third leading cause of death. Many of these cases go unsolved, further injuring those families and communities. The proceeds from sales of Our Sisters tulip will go to the Seattle-based organization Missing, Murdered Indigenous Women, People, and Families; as well as the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center.

The Our Sister tulip is a vibrant red with black interior, reminiscent of the MMIW movement symbol of the red hand. At Tulip Valley Farms, we stand for No More Stolen Sisters.

Tulip bulbs from Tulip Valley Farms and our growing partners will be available in the spring for purchase on our website

Why can’t I buy them at the field when I visit in the spring? Because all the bulbs you would want are still in the ground! Tulip bulbs must stay in the ground for about 6 weeks after they bloom (until the leaves turn brown and start falling off) so they have time to absorb the nutrients they need to rebloom.

Bulbs will be shipped in the fall (usually October) in time for mid to late-fall planting. Be sure to check out blog, sign up for newsletter, and follow us on social media for planting tips from Farmer Andrew!
