Description
Even if you don’t know much about the Dutch, you probably know these 3 things: they love tulips, the color orange is a thing, and they love speed ice skating…and are good at it. The Leo Visser tulip covers 2 of those 3 (it’s pink and white, not orange)!
The Leo Visser tulip is named for Dutch speed skater Leo Visser. According to Wikipedia (so it must be true), Leo was born in 1966 and “is a Dutch former speed skater, who in 1989 won the World Allround championships and European championships. At the 1988 Olympics in Calgary he won a silver medal in the 5000 m and a bronze medal in the 10 000 meter. Four years later, at the 1992 Olympics in Albertville, Visser won a bronze medal in both the 1,500 and the 5,000 metres. Nationally, he won the allround titles in 1988, 1989 and 1991, as well as four distance titles. After his career as a speed skater, Visser became a pilot and he is now captain on the Boeing 777 for Dutch airline KLM.”
Most importantly, this is Kenny’s favorite tulip and it makes him leap and run for joy.
The Leo Visser tulip is a beautiful pink tulip with curves of white around the exterior of the petals. It is a midseason blooming tulip that grows 18-24 inches in height. Each order comes with 25 bulbs and is shipped (or picked up) in October (variable).
